This model was a pretty good challenge. The customer wanted a replica of his 1953 Chevrolet truck...the only problem
was...there was no 1953 truck made in kit form. Luckily, AMT had a 1950 truck kit that could be modified to suit my
needs and the look of the real truck. The actually only difference between the 2 models is the 1950 truck is a 5 window
cab, and the 1953 is a 3 window cab. I had to fill in the 2 corner windows to make it look like the real truck.
I also had to adjust the stance to match the real truck and do some other things to get the correct look. On the interior,
he had an aftermarket radio installed in the dash near the top, with a polished aluminum plate surrounding it. I was
lucky enough to find the radio out of another model car and put the aluminum plate around it. If you look closely, I
even put keys in the ignition. Everything else was pretty much built box stock, it had a few challenges along the way,
but it was worth it. It turned out to be a great looking model.
